Antimicrobial surfaces and materials based on copper, silver, and other compounds are increasingly common. But after soiling, cleaning, wear and tear, how do you know if it still has good antimicrobial activity?
The CheckSurf test methods can provide quick and visible feedback on whether the surface is still able to actively kill bacteria and other germs. They are safe and simple to use, and adaptable to any location or type of surface.
How to Use It?
Apply some of the test chemical to the surface (following kit instructions). If it changes colour within a couple of minutes, the surface is highly likely to be antimicrobial! In our research, the colour change has been laboratory-calibrated to actual antimicrobial action against bacteria such as E. coli. This calibration is provided with the test, like the example shown below.
For this example (for copper), the extent of purple colour development within a few minutes is correlated with the likely log reduction of typical bacteria. Log 4 reduction is 99.99% kill.
Tests are available for copper, silver, and other antimicrobial surfaces. See the products page for details.
